Classification of Quartz Glass Plates by Their Optical Properties

Quartz glass plates can be classified into three categories according to their optical properties:

1. Far-ultraviolet (JGS1): transparent in the ultraviolet and visible spectral range, no absorption band in the 185-250nm band range, strong absorption band in the 2600-2800nm band range, non-luminescent and stable optical radiation;

2. Ultraviolet category (JGS2): transparent in the ultraviolet and visible spectral range, no absorption band in the range of 200-250nm band, strong absorption band in the range of 2600-2800nm band, non-luminescent and stable optical radiation;

3. Infrared class (JGS3): transparent in the visible and infrared spectral range, no obvious absorption band in the 2600-2800nm band range.

JGS1 Far Ultraviolet Quartz Glass Plate

Compared with ordinary silicate glass, transparent quartz glass has excellent transmittance properties in the entire wavelength range. Its spectral transmittance is affected by three factors: reflection, scattering and absorption. The reflection of quartz glass is generally 8% (larger in the ultraviolet region and smaller in the infrared region), and the scattering is relatively small and usually negligible. Spectral absorption is closely related to the impurity content and production process of quartz glass, for example, the transmittance in the band below 200 nanometers represents the amount of metal impurities; 240 nanometers of the absorption of the oxygen-deficient structure of the amount of; visible band of the absorption is due to the presence of the transition metal ions caused by the absorption of the 2730-nanometer absorption of the hydroxyl absorption peaks, which can be used for the calculation of the content of hydroxyl.

It should be noted that the categorization and specific parameters for the optical properties of quartz glass plates may vary between manufacturers or different application scenarios. In actual use, it is necessary to choose the appropriate quartz glass plate according to the specific needs.

Meanwhile, quartz glass plate is also characterized by high temperature resistance, low coefficient of thermal expansion, good thermal shock resistance and electrical insulation properties, etc. It is widely used in semiconductors, electric light sources, optical instruments, laboratory instruments, electrical equipment, medical equipment and other fields.

JGS3 Infrared Quartz Glass Plate
