Optical Properties And Applications of Quartz Glass Plate

Quartz glass plate is usually cut and ground from quartz glass, and its content of sio2 can reach more than 99.99%. The hardness is Mo type seven, and it has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, low thermal expansion coefficient, thermal shock resistance and good electrical insulation performance.

Quartz glass plate is usually colorless and transparent, with a visible light transmittance up to 95%.

Optical properties of quartz glass plate

Quartz glass plate has its own unique optical properties. It can not only transmit far ultraviolet rays, which is the best of all ultraviolet materials, but also transmit visible light and near-infrared spectrum. Due to its high temperature resistance, extremely small thermal expansion coefficient, good chemical stability, and bubbles, stripes, uniformity, and birefringence, it is an indispensable optical material with high stability in various harsh situations.

Optical Properties of Quartz Glass

According to its optical properties, it can be divided into three categories:

Far UV JGS1

Transparent in the ultraviolet and visible spectral range; no absorption band in the 185-250nm band; strong absorption band in the 2600-2800nm band; non-luminescent, stable optical radiation.

UV JGS2

Transparent in the ultraviolet and visible spectral range; no absorption band in the 200-250nm band; strong absorption band in the 2600-2800nm band; non-luminescent, stable optical radiation.

Infrared JGS3

Transparent in the visible and infrared spectral range; no significant absorption band in the 2600-2800nm band.

Optical Properties of Quartz Glass plate

Compared with ordinary silicate glass, transparent quartz glass has excellent transmission properties over the entire wavelength. In the infrared region, the spectral transmission is larger than that of ordinary glass; in the visible region, the transmittance of quartz glass is also relatively high. In the ultraviolet region, especially in the short-wave ultraviolet region, the spectral transmission is much better than that of other glasses.

Application of quartz glass plate

Quartz glass plate are widely used in scientific, industrial, and medical fields that require high transparency and stability due to their excellent transmission to different wavelengths of light. When selecting quartz glass plate, it is necessary to consider their purity, manufacturing process, and specific application requirements to ensure optimum transmission and performance.
