Infrared transmission through quartz rod
Infrared transmission quartz rod is a special type of quartz glass that has good transmittance in the near-infrared wavelength range. This quartz glass is mainly used in infrared optical instruments that require high transparency, such as infrared night vision devices, infrared reconnaissance, photography, tracking, and missile guidance for military applications. Infrared transmission through quartz glass exhibits excellent performance in the spectral wavelength range of 26 to 3502 nanometers.
Quartz glass is an important optical material that can be used to manufacture most ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared optical lenses. Quartz substrate is also a commonly used type of coated substrate, used for manufacturing mirrors, femtosecond laser lenses, and filters. In the terahertz band, quartz crystal is also a commonly used material, which can be used to produce terahertz lenses, quartz prisms, terahertz window mirrors, and quartz waveplates.
Compared with ordinary silicate glass, quartz glass has better transparency, especially in the infrared region. Its spectral transmittance is influenced by three factors: reflection, scattering, and absorption. The reflectivity of quartz glass is generally 8%, higher in the ultraviolet region and lower in the infrared region. Therefore, the transmittance of quartz glass is generally not greater than 92%. The scattering of quartz glass is relatively small and can be ignored. Spectral absorption is closely related to the impurity content and production process of quartz glass.
Infrared transmission through quartz rods plays an important role in various fields due to their excellent transmission performance, especially in infrared optical instruments that require high transparency.
