Quartz glass is a single component of silica glass, its microstructure is composed of silica tetrahedral structure body structure unit, the structure is compact.

Properties of quartz glass

Hardness: The hardness of quartz glass can be up to seven on the Mohs scale, with high resistance to abrasion.

High temperature resistance: quartz glass can withstand high temperature environment and is not easy to be deformed or melted.

Low coefficient of expansion: The coefficient of expansion of quartz glass is extremely small, 1/10~1/20 of ordinary glass, which makes it have better stability when the temperature changes.

Chemical stability: except for hydrofluoric acid and hot phosphoric acid, quartz glass has better acid resistance to general acids.

Electrical insulation properties: quartz glass has good electrical insulation properties, suitable for making electrical insulation materials.

Classification and application of quartz glass

Classification: Quartz glass is divided into two categories, transparent and opaque, according to transparency; according to purity is divided into high purity, common and doped three categories.

Application: Because of its excellent performance, quartz glass is widely used in electric light source, semiconductor, optical communication and other fields.
