The core reason why quartz glass (fused silica) has become the preferred material in the field of high temperature and precision lies in its unique physical properties:

Extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE): In the range of room temperature to high temperature, its CTE is about 0.5 × 10 ⁻⁶/℃ to 0.55 × 10 ⁻⁶/℃. In contrast, ordinary soda lime glass has a temperature of about 9 × 10 ⁻⁶/℃, while aluminum has a temperature as high as 23 × 10 ⁻⁶/℃. This means that under the same temperature difference, the size change of quartz glass is only 1/20 of ordinary glass and 1/40 of metal.
