Q: Can ordinary glass tubes replace quartz tubes for ultraviolet disinfection?  

Answer: No. Ordinary glass almost completely blocks UVC ultraviolet rays (transmittance<10%), while quartz tubes have a transmittance of over 90%. Replacing with ordinary glass, ultraviolet rays cannot be effectively emitted, and the disinfection effect is basically zero.

Q: Will quartz tubes break in high-temperature ultraviolet lamps?  

Answer: High quality quartz tubes have an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion (about 5.5 × 10 ⁻⁷/℃), and can withstand high temperatures above 800 ℃ for a long time. They are also not easy to explode during sudden cooling and heating. We use high-purity quartz raw materials to ensure that their heat shock resistance far exceeds that of ordinary glass or inferior quartz.

Q: How to determine if the quartz tube is aging and affecting the disinfection effect?  

Answer: Long term exposure to ultraviolet radiation can cause "sun spots" (decreased transmittance) on the surface of quartz tubes. It is recommended to test the UVC irradiation intensity every 8000-10000 hours. We can provide anti-aging coated quartz tubes, which will extend the service life by more than 30%.
