Fused silica tubes for UV lamps with an outer diameter of 20-600mm are a key component used in UV disinfection systems. The main function is to protect the lamp tube and ensure the transmittance of UV rays. These quartz tubes are usually made of high purity quartz glass with good optical properties, high temperature stability and corrosion resistance. Quartz glass is made of amorphous material with a single component of silica. Its microstructure is a simple network composed of four-sided structural units of silica. This structure gives quartz glass unique properties, especially excellent transmittance in the continuous wavelength range of ultraviolet to infrared radiation.
The processing technology of quartz glass tubes is more complicated. The nozzle needs to be treated by annealing and burning, etc., and the quartz material itself is fragile, so the cost is relatively high. These quartz tubes are usually used in fields such as electric light sources, semiconductors, optical fibers, and chemical industries. There are many models of quartz glass tubes, which can meet different requirements. For example, type 180 is an industrial standard continuous fusion transparent quartz glass tube. The purity of silica is greater than 99.9%. It has good stability, corrosion resistance, high spectral transmittance, and relatively cheap price.
The 230 type is an odorless oxygen transparent quartz glass tube, which is based on the 180 type pure quartz glass and is mixed with 100-200ppm titanium oxide to make it capable of absorbing far ultraviolet (below 230nm), making it suitable for the production of ultraviolet sterilization lamps.
UV tubes are made of pure quartz glass tubes made of natural crystals, and some use high borax glass tubes. The UV transmittance of pure quartz tubes is greater than 80%, while the UV transmittance of high borax glass tubes is less than 50%. Therefore, when choosing UV tubes, different choices should be made according to the location and needs of use.
