Quartz glass, as a hard and brittle material, has high mechanical hardness, good electrical insulation, high temperature and corrosion resistance, and excellent transparency. However, the hard and brittle nature of quartz glass makes its cutting process challenging, prone to issues such as edge breakage, microcracks, and residual stress.
The traditional quartz glass cutting methods mainly include mechanical cutting, such as knife wheel cutting. However, this method has some drawbacks, such as tool wear, material contamination, edge breakage, and microcracks. In contrast, laser cutting technology has significant advantages.
