Quartz rods are processed from quartz glass and have unique characteristics and advantages.
They can be used for single end halogen lamp bridge rod, optical fiber lighting, quartz fiber
manufacturing, semiconductor wafer processing, etc.
High purity fused quartz rods usually have three uses in optical fiber production: as fiber guide core.
Its main characteristic is the low absorption rate of light in the specific band. The fiber is either pure
quartz core (PCS) with a plastic cladding or fused quartz cladding with a lower refractive index. Quartz
rod can be used to produce photonic crystal fiber (PCF) prefabricated rods (stacking different glass sheets
or drilling holes in the rods) . Quartz rods can be used to adjust the pressure or refractive index of the local
fiber. Using two stress - induced boron - doped rods is one of the methods to produce polarization-maintaining
fiber.
